Pharmacist Shares the Danger and Limitations of Prescription Medicines

Medication has always been heeling mankind since centuries. Have you ever imagined, what would happen if the life savior drugs turn out to be harmful? Are the medicines that are prescribed to you really important or they just a medium to earn money for the doctors and the big medical companies? To answer those entire fearful questions about medication, Suzy Cohen, a pharmacist for over twenty years and author of the bestsellers like A 24-hour Pharmacist and Drug Muggers, came forward.

Suzy Cohen graduated from the University of Florida in 1989 as a pharmacist. For many years during her practice she noticed that the medications that were given to patients were not actually helping them, in fact it was making things even worse. Some of the patients had even become addicted to the on going medications. It was evident from their daily lifestyle that medications had gradually made them psychologically dependent on them. Suzy felt that something was wrong with the whole system.

In her endeavor to find out the truth, she did research for more than seven years. The results were astonishing. At last she concluded that our body has a natural healing process and it does not require additional medication in this the process. Medications as she described were mere luxury to soothe healing process.

So finally after twenty years she felt that what people should really do. Se preached that the people should consider medication as a last resort only if diet and exercise and herbs and remedies and vitamins have not helped. After one had exhausted all those efforts and he was still not feeling well, then it was okay to consider medication. Some of them actually saved lives. A lot of asthmatics require inhalers to stay alive, and people with seizure disorders, sometimes they can’t go without their epileptic medicines. So certain drugs are fine. Painkillers are fine for people who live in chronic pain and just have no life. They need it in order to have some quality of life. Suzy Cohen is one of those rare pharmacists who think that healing is a pie and there are many slices to the pie. Some medications scare her and she thinks they are useless. She thinks that they are created just to generate money for the companies who make them. But there are other medications that are worthy. So she is just basically trying to approach medicine from a sensible standpoint, not to scare people away from it necessarily, but to open their eyes and let them see that there are other options available to them. It is not just a pill for every ill.
